Olympia’s Volunteers in Parks program is seeking volunteers to help remove harmful exotic species from the edge of an important wetland at Friendly Grove Park. Here’s more information about this project and how to volunteer.

WATERWISE GARDENING CLASSES

The City of Olympia is offering three Waterwise Gardening Classes in March. Gardening experts will teach you how to create and maintain a beautiful garden that uses less water and chemicals.

Three different classes will be held on March 13th, 20th and 27th. All classes run from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and will take place at the Worthington Center, St. Martin’s University, 5300 Pacific Avenue SE. Now that the preferred site is selected, the project team is gearing up to begin design work. This open house is an opportunity for any interested community member to meet the architect and design team and to provide input on the aesthetics and function of customer spaces and common areas, safety and security, exterior appearance, public art, and site access. Representatives from the LOTT Alliance, Port of Olympia, and Hands on Children’s Museum will be present, too, as they have each announced preliminary intent to move forward with neighboring projects.
