Playground Fundraiser Raises $19K+

Parents at Madison are raising money to replace aging and dangerous playground equipment. On March 19, the playground was the beneficiary of the Junior League’s Fund a Need drive at their gala dinner and auction. Attendees raised $19,150! Together with the School District’s commitment they now have 70% of the funds needed to replace the old playground.

Donations are still needed. Send checks to Madison Elementary, Playground Project, 1225 Legion Way SE, Olympia WA 98501. Check out their Kaboom! project or visit the Madison-Avanti Giving Garden’s Facebook group for more info.

A playground design meeting will be held on April 13 at the Knox Building.

Olympia School District Kindergarten Roundup Is Under Way

Do you have a child who will be five years old on or before August 31st? If so, the Olympia School District invites you to sign up your child for fall kindergarten classes as soon as possible. To enroll your child, go to your neighborhood school and ask for a kindergarten welcome packet. If you are not sure which attendance area you are in, call the District at 596-6117. Be sure to bring your child’s birth certificate and immunization records. We look forward to new families joining our district.

Fairview Pathway – plants of interest

Clean-up and planting on the pathway at Fairview and 10th will begin soon. See below for a list of plants of interest; let us know if you have extra of any of these in your garden. We’ll put your name and plants on a list and let you know when they are needed.

If you’re on the ENA’s email list, watch your inbox: when we see a break in the weather, we’ll have a clean-up party to remove brush. Please bring gloves, pruners, shovels, and other garden tools.
