Legion Way Trees – Nine Coming Down Soon

This informational news was sent to the President. I am sharing it so the neighborhood knows;

My name is Kevin McFarland and I am the consulting arborist working for the City of Olympia.  I have been tasked with conducting tree risk assessments of the Legion Way trees and supervising tree removal and replacement efforts as part of this project.  The project area is between Central and Plum Street.  There have been 9 trees identified as ‘High’ risk.  These trees have been earmarked for removal.  The City has sent out request for quotes to area tree contractor (small works roster).  The quotes have been received and the City is in the process of review and with the anticipation of awarding a contract.  If this goes through the trees will be removed later this month or in May.  There will be 9 red oak trees replanted along Legion Way following tree removal.  I will be dropping off letters to the adjacent properties tomorrow informing them as to the upcoming project.

    • Take out bounce house as it increases insurance from $101 to $400+?
  • ENA Sign Cleaning
    • Nathan has personally purchased an extension pole for his own use and offers this for cleaning our signs.  Hence we just need cleaning product. “Simple Green” is Nathan’s suggestion. Any better ideas?
  • Annual Garage Sale
    • More signage? Serve dual purpose with Annual Picnic promotion and general meetings.
    • 10 more signs and 15 more stands (as they break) = $182.57
  • CNA – Report from attending CNA meetings.
  • Federal and State Procedures on Highway Noise Abatement
  • Proposal for another security minded ENA General Meeting brought forward by Anna Schlecht

Lions Park Clean Up

Here is a great clean up event organized by some of your neighbors!

Meet up at Lions park for an afternoon of hanging with the bros and cleaning up the surrounding area.

Group size should be 5-20 people. All ages. Gloves/garbage bags/buckets/grabbers provided.

Participants invited but not required to dinner and drinks afterward.
