Eastside Neighborhood Block Parties – July 12 & 13

The Eastside Neighborhood Association (ENA) is again sponsoring block parties this summer. Two of the block parties are coming up on Friday July 12 and Saturday July 13. The City has approved street closures where the parties will be held. It is possible a police rep or city council member will drop by to chat with us. The party hosts will provide some food and activities. Please bring your own potluck dish and/or beverage. People of all ages are welcome to attend. If you have a yard game to share, or a musical instrument you’d like to play, bring it! You may also want to bring a chair or two.

Eastside Neighborhood Apple Squeeze

The Eastside Neighborhood Association is sponsoring an event Saturday, October 13th from 10 am to 2 pm at Lions park. We hope to line up a few apple presses and experts to show you how to turn your apples into fresh wholesome juice for you or to donate. Please reply to this post if you are interested or if you have equipment we could use, put the date on your calendar, and save your apples. You might also want to talk to your neighbors if you see apples that aren’t being picked. More information to follow.

Thurston County Food Project Pick-up – August 11

The next Thurston County Food Project pick-up is coming up on Saturday, August 11. Please place your green bag on your porch by 9:00 am and your neighborhood coordinator will pick it up.

The suggested theme for August is stocking up for school with easy-to-open items.

The Eastside Neighborhood Association (ENA) is sponsoring four block parties in our neighborhood on Friday, July 13th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The City has now approved closures of the four blocks where the parties will be held. And it’s likely that a police rep and a city council member or two will drop by to chat with us. The party hosts will provide some food and activities. Please bring your own potluck dish or beverage. Each party will have its own set of activities. People of all ages are welcome to attend. If you have a yard game to share, or a musical instrument you’d like to play, please bring it along. You may also want to bring a chair or two.

Here are the locations of the four parties:

1. Sawyer St. SE between 7th & 9th

2. Lybarger St. SE between 10th & Union

3. McCormick St. SE between 13th & 14th

4. 5th Ave. SE between Fir & Fairview

This is the third annual block party evening. Both prior years the parties were well-attended and got excellent feedback. The goal of the parties is to help members of the Eastside Neighborhood get to know each other and make our neighborhood safer and more connected. We hope you can make it!
